Character History

Personal History Joshua Miller was born at 0311 on April 1, 2355 to Julie and Luke Miller. At the time Julie worked at her father's family medical practice in San Francisco while Luke was a Starfleet Lieutenant working at Starfleet Medical. Josh was their third child; the couple already had two daughters; Karen (12) and Pippa (10). In the months following Josh's birth, Luke Miller resigned from Starfleet and joined his wife at the Miller Family Practice. Three years later a second son, Cameron, was born.

The Miller's were a very close family. Julie and Luke were able to spend a lot of time with their children thanks to the family friendly hours at the clinic and Karen and Pippa always had time for their little brothers. Even after they started high school and started dating, both sisters still made time for their younger brothers. His parents encouraged several sides to the young boy's personality from an early age. On the one hand they encouraged him to be active and to get out there and play sports with his friends while on the other they encouraged his creative side, by allowing him to take guitar lessons.

During one family vacation to Hawaii, Luke took his son out into the water and taught the young man to surf. From then on the family took a vacation during Spring Break to Hawaii where Josh spent most of his time surfing. His father also taught him to play baseball in a park near their house. When he reached high school, Josh joined the schools teams for both these sports.

Doctor Miller's Starfleet career began in the fall of 2373 when he began classes at Starfleet Academy. He found the first year difficult because it was the transition phase for cadets moving from civilian into military life. However, following the winter break he seemed much more at ease with military life and his grades improved. Thanks to growing up around his mother's medical practice, Josh already had a decent grounding in medical knowledge.

During his time at the Academy Josh had a number of boyfriends but none of them lasted more than a few months due to his focus on his studies and the career he wanted to build for himself. While he enjoyed his time at the Academy, he was excited to graduate and begin the next chapter of his life.
